| Based in Sacramento, multimedia photographer Frederico "Pico" van Houtryve tells visual stories in a classic 35 mm style with the latest Nikon digital SLR cameras. Pico specializes in photographing people and documenting events, such as weddings, births and engagements, as well as editorial and commercial photography, including sports, public relations, advertising, and portraits. Pico's strength is his ability to create images that speak to the mind and inspire the soul.

Pico photographed our wedding on October 10th, 2009. He met with us and saw the site on his own time and had great ideas for pictures that I would never have thought of. He cataloged our day beautifully; there was no big event or small occurrence that he did not capture. Pico was a very personable and careful photographer. His work will be with us for the rest of our lives and we will cherish every image that he produced on our special day. - wedding client Leslie Stromgren, November 13, 2009.
Daily newspapering is front-line work with tight
deadlines, impossible demands and constant stress. Pico is a
photographer I trust on that line. - Adriel Hampton, September 18,
2008 (managed Pico at the San Francisco Examiner)
Pico has a deeper, more researched understanding of photography than most other photojournalists. When Pico looks at a picture he sees much more than just a picture. He is seeing geometry, aesthetics, symbolism, light, and the moment in the situation he is in. He uses these elements to share his insights of the world he sees and surprises people with his unique perspective of normal everyday moments. - photographer Nader Khouri, August 18, 2008 Pico has a great ability to capture a moment, even the ones you might miss. He's able to approach complete strangers and make them feel comfortable enough to get that perfect image. His photojournalistic style translates beautifully in his images, and you get a good feeling of the moment and the event! Pico's very reliable, comes with over a decade worth of experience, and is personable! I HIGHLY recommend him. - Rose-Stella Ahmed, August 10, 2008
